Old miners house at the historic Gwalia townsite.
That House
That house,
our first house,
where I traced the lines and holes,
trod its carpets bare,
ever eyeing the sagging plaster,
where dust was our friend
and spiders paid their way,
even the rodents were not destitute.
Well that house we painted boldly,
with the brightest colours of our love.

A house is just a shelter without love and family. Wonderfully expressed.

That made me quite nostalgic. Reminiscing about my childhood now 😉

Off topic, Paul. Have you ever written a poem in honor of Veteran’s /Remembrance Day ?

Not yet, it has been on my mind as to how to do that.

My newly renovated family home is at the next stage … painting. Your poem, the palette.

Thank you, the project management, when I’m on the road so frequently, has been a challenge.
Painting is a soothing activity, so I’m not surprised people enjoy it.

Well, as you say, almost there if it’s at the painting stage, so nearly over.
