To Clear The Mind – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

Bonfire – Word of the Day

To Clear The Mind

The detritus of life collects in the corners of our minds,
it piles up,
like bits of fluff and dust under the couch.
Sometimes, when we poke around in it
memories are stirred,
some good, some, well, not so.
either way,
comes a time when a match must be struck,
and the bonfire begun,
a funeral pyre,
embers glowing,
letting go.

  3. I love how in nature fire is not always destructive. It regenerates, renews, brings forth new life. So I take note and “a match must be struck” every now and then, for that controlled burn!

  4. You are right. We tend to poke around, but don’t always purge the old.

  6. Bonfire of the Insanities. You think you’ve done a really good house cleaning, but there’s always a couple of closets you’ve forgotten, with some anxieties and bad memories lurking in the back, behind the moth-eaten sweaters! ๐Ÿ™‚

I can use this one – very powerfully sculpted words of letting go.
