And You

“And you?”
“Oh yes.” She smiles
“I’m heading to the city.’
I smile back, “Aha.”
She turns to look out the window
The light catches the frame of her glasses.
They sparkle,
just like her eyes.
“It’s busy here isn’t it?”
“It sure is.”
She turns back, sips her coffee.
Moments pass.
Our gazes collide, our eyes kiss.
Silences are filled with roadhouse noises.
Her lips on the cup
the last sip
she stands
“Well, safe travels.”
“You too, thank you.”
I watch her as far as the door
I sigh.
Untouched,
my coffee is cold.
But there was love.

  3. Romance is fleeting, caffeine is eternal. No, just kidding!! And I really like your poem, an entire movie in one hundred words.

  4. It’s always nice to feel like this. There is nothing more to achieve, in my opinion.
