I once had to open the back of my Pentax when the auto wind became stuck. I lost a few photos that day because the consequence was the exposure of the film. But exposure always reminds me of self-exposure, the ability to reflect and deal with myself. We often say its hard to open up to others and to be ourselves in public, but I think we are just as hidden from ourselves. We can be quite a revelation to ourselves, we can have epiphanies of self. But only if we stop and take time to allow self-exposure. To let down our guard, drop the barriers, to open the heart. But therein lies the difficulty, we have to open to the affective and once we open, who knows … it might not be simple or painless, but its a risk worth taking, and I believe healing.
